Magic Masala Makhana Popcorn Bowl
This started as a test to see if makhana and popcorn could coexist in the same bowl without one overpowering the other. They don't just coexist — they make each other better. The popcorn adds lightness, the makhana adds density and crunch, and the Magic Masala brings everything together with a flavour that's hard to stop eating. Consider yourself warned.
WHAT YOU NEED
- 2 packs Chakhaana Magic Masala mini makhana
- 3 cups freshly popped popcorn (plain, lightly salted)
- 1 tbsp melted butter or coconut oil
- ½ tsp chaat masala
- ¼ tsp black salt
- Optional: 2 tbsp roasted chana dal for extra crunch
Method
Pop your popcorn. Plain or lightly salted - you don't want a heavily seasoned base because the Magic Masala does the seasoning work.
While popcorn is still warm, drizzle melted butter or coconut oil and toss.
Add both packs of Chakhaana Magic Masala into the bowl.
Sprinkle chaat masala and black salt. Toss gently - even distribution, not broken makhana.
Add roasted chana dal if using. Serve immediately in a large bowl.
For kids: Skip the black salt and reduce chaat masala to a pinch - Chakhaana Magic Masala is already flavourful enough for younger palates. Works as a tiffin snack too: pack the makhana separately and mix at snack time so everything stays crisp.
Why makhana over all-popcorn?
Makhana has a slower burn than popcorn — it's denser, more filling, and doesn't leave you feeling vaguely empty 15 minutes later. Mixing the two means you eat less total volume but feel more satisfied. Which matters less during a movie and more during the school run.
