Makhana Smoothie Bowl with Crunch Topping

15 min  ·  High Protein  ·  Serves 1  ·  Uses Amrutam Premium

Most smoothie bowls are dessert in disguise — frozen fruit, some granola, and a photograph. This one is built differently. Makhana goes in two places: blended into the base for creaminess and protein, and on top as the crunch element. The result is a bowl that's genuinely filling, not just aesthetically pleasing.

For the base

  • ½ cup Amrutam Premium raw makhana, lightly roasted
  • 1 frozen banana  ·  ½ cup frozen mixed berries
  • ¾ cup cold milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter or almond butter
  • 1 tsp honey  ·  a pinch of cinnamon
For the topping
  • ¼ cup Amrutam Premium raw makhana, roasted until golden and crisp
  • Fresh banana slices  ·  a few berries
  • 1 tsp chia seeds  ·  drizzle of honey

Method

1

Roast all the makhana - both portions - in a dry pan on medium heat for 3–4 minutes until crisp and lightly golden. Let cool completely before using.

2

For the base: blend the roasted makhana (base portion) with frozen banana, berries, milk, peanut butter, honey, and cinnamon until completely smooth. The texture should be thick - thicker than a drinkable smoothie.

3

Pour into a bowl. It should hold its shape, not run.

4

Top with the remaining roasted makhana, banana slices, berries, chia seeds, and a honey drizzle.

5

Eat immediately before the toppings sink.

The makhana-in-the-blender trick:Blending roasted makhana into the base creates natural creaminess without extra yoghurt or banana. It also adds protein and complex carbs that slow down how fast you burn through the meal — the difference between a bowl that keeps you full until lunch and one that leaves you hunting for a snack at 10:30am.

Variations

Chocolate version: Add 1 tbsp cocoa powder to the base, top with Chakhaana Cheese makhana for an unexpected sweet-salty hit.

Tropical version: Swap berries for mango and pineapple, use coconut milk, top with Chakhaana Salt & Turmeric.
